Veneers & Lumineers

Lumineers & Veneers in Pearland, TX

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells designed to cover the front side of teeth to improve their appearance. They can be made from porcelain or from resin composite materials and are bonded to the front of the teeth. At Harmony Dental in Pearland, TX, we offer porcelain veneers and Lumineers to correct minor imperfections in your smile.

Why Porcelain Veneers?

Veneers are a good option for correcting stained, chipped, decayed, or crooked teeth. They can also be used to fix teeth with gaps between them or teeth that are worn down. Dental veneers are durable, and with the proper care, can provide a beautiful smile for many years.

Dental Veneers Procedure

The placement of veneers typically takes two office visits. Local anesthesia is not usually needed when placing veneers, though it can be used if a patient is particularly sensitive.

  • First, your dentist will clean the tooth and, with your input, choose the shade of the veneer. The dentist will then remove a small amount of enamel from the surface of the tooth to make room for the veneer and take a mold or impression of the tooth. This mold will be sent to a laboratory where the veneer will be made.
  • In the meantime, a temporary veneer may be placed on the tooth. During the second visit, the temporary veneer will be removed and the tooth cleaned and prepared for the final veneer. After being placed using a special cement, the veneer will be light contoured to harden it, then cleaned and polished.

Like dental veneers, Lumineers can be applied to fix problems such as large gaps between the teeth, misaligned teeth, or stained teeth. However, they have additional advantages in that they last longer (over 20 years), and are thinner, so that little alteration needs to be done to the tooth, and the treatment is reversible.
