A fixed bridge is a very effective method of replacing one or more missing teeth. It creates a literal “bridge” between the missing teeth and remaining teeth by using the teeth on either side of the gap as a foundation with the false tooth/teeth in between. The replacement tooth or teeth can be made of gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials.
By filling in missing teeth, fixed bridges can restore your smile, restore your ability to chew and speak properly, maintain the shape of your face, restore your bite, or prevent your remaining teeth from drifting out of position.
Porcelain bridges have the added advantage of having the appearance of natural teeth. They can be shaped to look like the original teeth and to fit comfortably within the bite pattern of the remaining teeth, but are durable enough to withstand normal tooth function.
To have a dental bridge placed will usually take two dentist visits with our Pearland offices.
Proper brushing, flossing, and regular dentist visits will extend the life of the dental bridge, which can last from five to over 15 years.
