Some of the most common dental solutions, dentures and partial dentures, are removable dental appliances used to replace missing teeth. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures can be used if some of the natural teeth remain. Our Pearland, TX dental offices are happy to offer both restorative solutions for our patients.
Getting dentures or partials fitted normally takes several appointments, usually over the course of several weeks. Highly accurate molds and measurements are taken of your mouth and used to create the custom dentures or partials. It may be necessary to return to the dentist for several “try-in” appointments to ensure the proper shape, color, and fit.
New dentures or partials may feel awkward and cause irritation or soreness for a while. Saliva flow also usually temporarily increases. As your mouth becomes more comfortable with the dentures, these problems should subside.
Dentures should be cleaned as natural teeth would, with daily brushing. The mouth should also be cleaned daily. When not in use, dentures should be kept in a safe place in water to keep from warping.
